Introduction

Each Pokémon has at least one kind of ability. Abilities are the skills that a Pokémon possess to give themselves an advantage in battle or outside battle. Abilites were first introduced in Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire and continued in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen. In Pokémon Emerald, some abilities can do other things outside battle, which makes a trainer's life more convenient. Whereas in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, more abilities have been added to the list and some old abilities still play their part in helping a trainer to plan strategies in battle. Some Pokémon even get a selection of two abilities but they can only have only one ability in the game.

Examples Of Abilities


Turtwig, Grotle and Torterra have the ability Overgrow.

Chimchar, Monferno and Infernape have the ability Blaze.

Piplup, Prinplup and Empoleon have the ability Torrent.
