The Basics


Here we have the basics to help you leanr the basic things about Pokemon.
Before we start you should actually know how to pronounce the word Pokemon. Its pronounced as POKE-E-MON. once you know how to say that read on.
Firstly what we have here is a Pokemon;

The Pokemon we have here, its name is Bulbasaur. Its one of the starter Pokemon in the first generation of Pokemon. A Pokemon is your best friend/partner in the game. A Pokemon is a creature that you battle with in order for it to gain expirience points so it grows stronger. Sometimes when they reach a certain level it might evolve. There are 16 different types in Pokemon. Some Pokemon have two types. Most Pokemon have a negative side which is that they will have a type thats super effective against them. The Pokemon types are; Grass, Water, Fire, Bug, Flying, Dragon, Ground, Ghost, Dark, Fighting, Psychic, Steel, Rock, Poison, Ice and Electric.

PokeBall

A PokeBall is a small ball that is a capturing system to catch Pokemon, so you can raise and train them to be your own. A PokeBall is the only way that you can catch a Pokemon. There are many different types of Pokeball's; some are rare, and some are just regular ones.

Items

There are many different kinds of items in all Pokemon games, there are some that help you recover from different status'. There are some Potions that restore different amounts of HP [Health Points]; or any other stats. There are also different items that can help raise your Pokemon's stats, and levels. You can attach mail to your Pokemon and send it on Wi-Fi and when you trade the other person can read what you wrote. There are also Berries; which are extremely cool, when you grow them you can keep them, feed them to your Pokemon, or turn them into Poffins [only in Diamond & Pearl] or PokeBlocks [only in Ruby, Saaphire & Emerald].

Generations There are 4 different Generations of Pokemon; Which also means four different Regions.
1st Generation - Kanto Region - Red, Yellow, Blue, Fire Red, Leaf Green versions
2nd Generation - Jhoto Region - Gold, Slilver, Crystal versions
3rd Generation - Hoenn Region - Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald Versions
4th Generation - Sinnoh Region - Diamond, Pearl Verisons

Natures

Yes Pokemon have natures too. There are many different natures which all have their up's and downs. Most of them usually have a really god effective side which makes one of the stats grow faster than the others, but some don't do that. Also with the natures they can help tell you what kind of Poffin or PokeBlock suites them best, or which flavour they like best.
